Spring 2010 Abztract Print Releases

Abztract has teamed up with four very talented artists for the 2010 Spring Limited Edition print releases. All prints are signed and numbered editions and are available for purchase as of today on our shop at www.abztract.com

PAPERMONSTER LIMITED EDITION PRINT
PaperMonster is a stencil graffiti artist whose vivid and intricate pieces explore the beauty behind the eyes and facial expressions of women.
Born in Puerto Rico, PaperMonster incorporates stencil and pasting techniques to create pieces of art on any surface by incorporating pop culture icons, Asian typography, patterns and texture to present vibrant emotions and stories.
Now, Abztract and PaperMonster joined together to release this 18 X 24, 4-color Limited Edition signed and numbered print title "True Identity". The print is an edition run of 50 and is available for $45.00 at our online shop starting today at abztract.com.

CHRIS RWK LIMITED EDITION PRINT
A child of the 80s, Chris' world was often completely flooded with the imagery and ideas presented by his television, his comic books, and the music and movies of the time. Immersed in these various mediums, Chris began to store the images brought forward though these everyday experiences in what he refers to as a "mental journal".
Today, Abztract and Chris of Robots Will Kill are releasing this limited edition 2-color print to share this "mental journal" with collectors.
Titled "Dio De Las Robots" and at 18 X 24, this print is limited to a run of 50, signed and numbered. It can be purchased on our online shop at for $45 starting today.

JMR LIMITED EDITION PRINT
Earlier this year, Abztract announced the release of Floating Carnival, an exclusive limited edition print in a collaboration with featured artist JMR. A Brooklyn native, JMR has been inspired by his upbringing in the urban city and expressed with paintings of tangled, swooping, and jutting lines, which combine into unexpected shapes of vivid colors.
This 18 X 24 signed and numbered edition of only 40 comes screenprinted by hand (yep, no machine. Each individually pulled by hand) in four colors on 90 lb (250 gsm) Stonehenge paper.
The JMR "Floating Carnival" limited edition print can be purchased exclusively online at the Abztract shop for the price of $50. We still have a few in stock of this very special collaboration print.

PHILIP LUMBANG LIMITED EDITION PRINT FOR CHARITY
Lumbang and Abztract have teamed up to release "The Mural" Limited Edition print with 75% of proceeds to help the local community while doing so. This 18 x 24 three-color screen print was created by Lumbang, who used one of the most recent photos taken of a mural he painted (which has recently come under a lot of attention after it was ordered by the city of Los Angeles to be removed after a single complaint from a local neighbor).
The print is on 100lb archival paper and is an edition of only 100 prints total. Partial proceeds from the sales of this print will go to Room 13 Foshay, a Los Angeles nonprofit that provides mentoring and education programs to inner-city youth with a passion for arts.
The print can be purchased on our site for $50 with only very few left in stock.

Cheers
Abztract Fam

STOKED SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS RECAP

"Successful" would be an understatement as to how the event that our friends at STOKED MENTORING went last weekend. The event was to celebrate how the non-profit has helped change 500 lives for teens across the nation. Stoked is just an amazing group of people who work 24/7 at making sure underprivileged teens get every possible benefit and chance that most of us have had go unappreciated when we were teens.

The event honored pro-skater Rob Dyrdek. Abztract gave their talent and skill of artist Shai Dahan to create a customized skateboard that featured Rob and all his accomplishments.
In addition to the skateboard, Abztract also designed a shirt that was sold at the event to help raise money for the organization.

The event was a BIG success as Monster drink and DC shoes sponsored the event and Rob, along with his friend Sal Masekela and founder of Stoked Steve Larosiliere helped rais over $10,000 (which is just amazing).

Go check out Stoked.org and become a mentor or just give a little to help them make the holidays a bit more special for so many teens in your community.

Stay Stoked!

ROB DYRDEK SKATEBOARD FOR STOKED MENTORING

Abztract has been supporting what the folks at STOKED MENTORING have been doing for the community for a couple of years now. Abztract co-founder and custom skateboard artist, Shai Dahan recently donated his skills and talents to create awards for their NYC event where he painted hand-made miniature surfboards for the award recipients including Sal Masekela and Bob McKnight (CEO of Quiksilver).

On December 5th, Stoked is holding its SPIRIT AWARDS in Los Angeles and the recipient is none other than ROB DYRDEK.

We are big fans of Rob and his community support and have been good friends of the Rogue Status family (which Rob co-owns) so it came as no surprise that Shai took the opportunity to donate a customized skateboard featuring Rob and some of his life accomplishments to be given as the award during the STOKED SPIRIT AWARD event.

So check out the close-up images of the custom award below and make sure to grab tickets to the event to see both Rob and the deck in person on December 5th in LA. Abztract teamed up with STOKED to give a FRIENDS & FAMILY hook up to receive a discount on tickets for the event. So enter code SHAIDC under the "enter discount code" section when you go to Cop your tix here. Some of the Abztract fam will be in attendance along with STOKED, Rob and many others.

And if you want your very own custom skateboard by Shai, hit us up at order@abztract.com or visit www.deckyourself.com

Abztract supports STOKED AWARDS 2009

On Thursday, STOKED MENTORING held their annual Stoked Awards to celebrate the success, inspiration and achievement for Stoked.
Stoked is a youth development program that utilizes the power of non-traditional sports and mentoring to create successful teens.

This year, Abztract had the pleasure to donate the skills and talents of our in-house artist Shai Dahan. Along with his father, Jacob (who is an excellent wood craftsman), shaped and hand painted custom awards for the Stoked Award evening gala (seen above).

The awards were given to Bob McKnight, CEO of Quiksilver. Jonathan Drubner and Erick Tobar (Mentor and Mentee pair) and Dan Bealey. An additional surprise award was given to Sal Masekela.

We are proud of the awards we have been able to provide for the event as well as being able to support and take part of this amazing charity.

You may visit STOKED on their site at: Stoked.org and read more about the awards and the recipients at stokedawards.com

STOKED Awards : In the making

Abztract tries to give back to the community whenever we can and however we can.
For the past four years, we have donated original skateboard art to Life Rolls On Foundation and Stoked Mentoring including having some of our featured artists donate this year to LRO (including work by Veng, Billi Kid, ChrisRWK and Shai Dahan).

This year, Stoked is having their STOKED AWARDS, giving awards to those who have given above and beyond to their charity and who have made a notable contribution to their cause of helping teens stay off the streets through action sports like skateboarding and surfing.

Abztract is currently in the process of producing the custom hand painted awards that will be given out to the recipients at this years award show.
Below are some images of Jacob Dahan, an amazing craftsman who was kind enough to donate his time and talent to shaping miniature surfboards out of wood. The boards will then be shipped to the Abztract NYC art studio where his son, Shai Dahan will be hand painting each of the boards. We will bring photos of the process Shai is taking to paint them as well as final images when they are completed and post them here exclusively next week.

The awards are on Nov. 12th and you can get tix to the event here: TICKETS & INFO
