Eames Inspiration - Take a seat and enjoy

Billi Kid has been busy. He is going to be curating an event to auction and benefit Operation Design which helps utilize designers alike to work together with public school students on art projects. The event will feature plywood classroom chairs painted by NYC street-artists.
The event will even be featured in Barneys NY.

The roster features a great line-up including some Abztract featured artists such as Damon Ginandes, Darkcloud, Joe Iurato, URnewyork, Veng and Billi Kid himself.

"Exit Through the Wharf" - an SF movie

Banksy has been getting around like a bad case of herpes at a Hilton Serority dormroom.
As advertising for his film (yeh, we call that shit for what it really is), he has been doing the rounds in LA, NY and now San Fran.

Whether you love him or hate him or just frankly don't give a shit, you probably have seen a lot about him as of late. He has made the cover of numerous papers and magazines and has Twitter and Facebook making cyber versions of little girl giggle noises.

The folks at Warholian.com went out and shot some footage. It's cool if you are into seeing the "stoked" folks who "love his work" be interviewed. (My personal favorite: "I knew Banksy before he got famous!"). Right on. I knew milk before it was yogurt.

Regardless of our opinion of the street-art Jesus (we're Jewish), we chose to share this video that was sent by the nice folks at Warholian because those folks seem to really take the time to go out, shoot footage, interview folks and cut that shit up on Avid (which apparently according to Mr. Brainwash, is all you need to do to get your street-art movie into Sundance these days).

So enjoy and check out the extensive gallery on their flickr as well: HERE

Joe Iurato paints his own Sistine Chapel

So a few weeks back, we showed you the fresh Gonz stencil our homie and Abztract artist Joe Iurato did.  Well, besides busting out some crazy dope original art for the Rogue Status show we did in LA in early April, the dude has been keeping himself very busy.

Joe hit up DAY ONE Skateshop in CT and took on the challenge of painting upside down for the first time (straight up Sistine Chapel style).  The stencil work he did on their ceiling is of John Cardiel and Mark "The Gonz" Gonzales.

Check out these action shots.  Joe tells us that he will be returning to DAY ONE SKATESHOP to add additional work to their ceiling adding more portraits every couple of months painting it live during the shops events until the entire ceiling is full.

Props and kudos for not only taking on such an extreme challenge, but doing so by giving homage to some true skate legends.
