Chris of RWK show at Steadfast

Oh Snap! Our pal Chris of Robots Will Kill is having a solo show at Steadfast Gallery.

Chris tells us that the show will consists of mostly new paintings which is very exciting.

The opening is on December 15th in Orlando Florida.

So if you are in the "Big O" (and we are not talking about Oprah), make sure to swing by and check it out.

Pandemic Gallery Art Show - August 22nd in NYC

If you are in NYC this Saturday and want to catch some great artwork from some amazing talents (including recently added Abztract featured artist Royce Bannon), then check out this event.

So take a break from working at the office on Saturdays or watching Family Guy episodes online, and come out to this event. Abztract will be there reppin' it up.

MOM & POPism hits the internets

Both Shai Dahan and Billi Kid who are two talented artists that are currently part of our

Featured Artist Collective, were part of the MOM & POPism show, presented by Gawker Artists and curate by Billi Kid and James and Karla Murray. You can read about it here.

Well, MOM & POPism has taken the internet by storm and has received a ton of coverage (just Google MOM & POPism to see). Ranging from blogs to Juxtapoz magazine, Upper Playground and even W Magazine.

Here is a collection of some of the press this event received. It is very nice to see two of our featured artists be involved in such a great event with some amazing other graffiti and street artists.

MOM & POPism invites you

SAVE THE DATE and join us at the MOM & POPism art event.

Our good friend and extremely talented Featured Artists BILLI KID is curating the MOM & POPism art show. The MOM & POPism show will be hosted by our good friends at Gawker Artists on top of their gorgeous roof. The event is a reinterpretation of a book by James and Karla Murray named "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York". James and Karla are famous for their beautiful photography books. If you have not checked out their stuff, do so by clicking here.

The MOM & POPism event, will bring together 26 street and graffiti artists from such cities as Miami and New York.
The show will include Abztract Featured Artist Shai Dahan alongside 27 other amazingly talented artists.

Gawker ALT/ART Show 2009

Lastnight, Abztract had the pleasure to be part of the Gawker Artists ALT/ART show. Gawker Artists is a curated online art community promoting the works of artists of all media. The ALT/ART show which featured Abztract Featured Artists Temple7e, Billi Kid, Jordan Seiler and Shai Dahan, was an event show of works made by Gawker Artists employing unconventional methods, media, and materials.

The event was great and even Billi Kid, Jordan Seiler and Shai Dahan dropped by to chat about their art.
While there, we had time to chat with Liz Dimmitt, curator of the Gawker Artists website and exhibition. We also had a chance to speak with James and Karla Murray, who have been documenting the streets of New York and Miami, publishing three best-selling books on the graffiti scene. We met some great people from the Gawker staff, friends, art fans and some of the other artists involved in the ALT/ART show, including Justin Emerson who paints lunch bags with some rad characters (see some of his work in the photos below).

Looking For a Sign

While outside the Gawker ALT/ART show, we met up with Featured Artist and talented street-artist Billi Kid.
Before going upstairs to mingle with the invited, Billi Kid threw up these two pieces across the street and around the corner form the art show.
We couldn't resist but to snap a photo of them once Billi Kid brought it to our attention.

After exiting the art show on our way to the subway, we actually noticed a couple of kids trying to unscrew one of the pieces to possibly take home. It did seem like they were struggling a lot so who knows if they ever got it.

Gawker Art Shows

Gawker Artists will have two art shows coming up this summer. Both will feature work from Abztract artist and co-founder, Shai Dahan. The first show named ALT/ART will feature 4 Abztract Artists : Jordan Seiler, Billi Kid, Temple7e and Shai. The second show will feature over a dozen artists alongside Billi Kid (who is curating the show along with James and Karla Murray) and will feature street art work from Shai alongside other great talents such as Lady Pink, Cycle, The Dude Company, Zoltron and many more.

What's in the oven?

Abztract has been working hard and some great stuff is coming out very soon.

What's going on right now:

- A brand new blog we just launched. Bird Gun Blog will be the home to all of our new blog posting. We will now expand our blogging to cover abztract news, featured artist interviews, local art news, art gallery reviews, and even posting photos of street art we find to be worth mentioning. If you have some cool photos of street art, or have been to a good art show (even outside of the U.S.), send us the photos to blog@abztract.com and we may post them here on our site and give you props. You can also now leave comments on our postings as well as check out archived posts over here on the right :)

- The ALT/ART show at the Gawker office in New York City where along Jordan Seiler, Billi Kid, Temple7e and Shai Dahan, Abztract will be providing their artwork for the summer exhibit to be displayed at the Gawker show. The event will be on July 9th and will be covered by Abztract who will be in attendance. We will post photos of the event after the 9th so check back.

- We are glad to announce that Stuck One and Philip Lumbang have joined us as Featured Artists. Both come from Souther California and have been getting a lot of love in the art scene. Both are currently working on their designs to be sold exclusively on abztract.com shop and will also have some Limited Edition Prints coming out soon as well.

- We are also excited to announce that we will soon launch "Photography Featured Artists". Abztract will introduce two very, very talented photographers soon as our first Photographer Featured Artists. This is an exciting time for us to give exposure to the art of photography and we will do it with two great guys.

- Glad to be invited back by our friends at the Grey Dog Cafe in NYC to deck out their walls starting July 15th. Abztract's Featured Artist Shai Dahan decked out their walls last summer and was a great success. We are glad to return with some new designs and some old school "Reservoir Dogs" decks too. We will have an opening for this location soon and will announce details here.

- Lastly, Abztract will be sponsoring the next CHALLENGE by projectCAPTURED.
projectCaptured organizes CHALLENGES where participants are provided with an assignment: A list of clues/items that need to be captured in a digital photo then uploaded to a specified location online.
Simply put, it's a scavenger hunt but so much more! We are excited to sponsor the next Challenge and be involved in this fast growing online project. Additional details will be posted here soon to all of you photography enthusiasts.

Abztract dropped by the Gawker office today down in NYC. Abztract was invited for their summer art exhibition which will feature our Featured Artists Jordan Seiler, Billi Kid, Temple7e and Shai Dahan.
As a token of gratitude (beyond just the shout-out to Liz @ Gawker Artist) we decided to hook their office up with this Gawker Artist hand painted deck made by artist Shai Dahan.
